Benessere Phenomenon Napa Valley 2004

ITEM # BPHN04

Varietal: 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Sangiovese, 14% Merlot, and 6% Syrah

Viticulture & Vinification Notes: The blend is made from 100% estate grown fruit. This Super-Napan is only released in the best vintages of the blended varietals. This is the third release since 1996 and the first release to the East Coast. Barrel aged for 13 months in oak. Yields: 2.3 tons/acre. 527 cs production.

Notes From The Winemaker: Phenomenon embodies the pinnacle of winemaking at Benessere. Its produced only inquantities commensurate with our highest expectations. As such, we feel that Phenomenon is a wine that is age-worthy and substantial enough to pair with hearty dishes as well as elegant fare. This wine has aromas and flavors of dark, ripe cherries and plums, with notes of creamy and toasty oak, and a hint of vanilla. It is perfect to share with friends and family and to toast all joyous occasions. It will age well for the next decade or more.

Sante Magazine: Ripe, concentrated and beautifully balanced with raspberry, blackberry and blueberry notes throughout; nice acidity and a lingering white pepper finish. Red meat with mushrooms.

Wine Enthusiast Magazine: 92 Points. A distinguished wine, but a very young one whose tannins dominate. The flavors are myriad and complex, ranging from currants and cherries through anise and plum sauce to the smoky cedar of the oak barrels in which it was aged. Drink now, with decanting, and through 2012.
